This policy sets out how we handle your personal information when you visit our website, place an order or get in touch with us, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Personal information we collect

  • Contact and order details: name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery address, order details and payment confirmation. Your full card number never reaches us; our payment provider handles it.
  • Account details: if you create an account, your username, password and security details.
  • Customer service records: what you share with us when you contact us.
  • Website usage: your IP address, device and browser information and the way you use the site, gathered through cookies and similar technologies.

We collect this information directly from you, automatically when you use the site, and from our service providers. You can browse the site without telling us your name; to place an order, we need your contact and delivery details.

Why we collect it

  • To process, deliver and support your order, including returns and refunds
  • To meet our legal obligations, such as record-keeping under tax and consumer law
  • To send you marketing emails if you have consented or bought from us; each email contains an unsubscribe link, in line with the Spam Act 2003
  • To protect the site, prevent fraud and keep improving our services
  • To place analytics and advertising cookies, which you can manage at any time in the cookie settings

Who we share it with

  • Our fulfilment partner in Dongguan, China, which receives your name, delivery address, phone number and order details to pack and dispatch your order, and nothing else
  • Shopify, which hosts our store (see Shopify's privacy policy)
  • Shopify Payments and PayPal, our payment providers, and the card schemes and banks involved in your payment
  • Delivery carriers and providers of customer support, email and analytics services acting on our instructions
  • Advertising partners, only where you have accepted marketing cookies
  • Government bodies, courts and advisers where the law requires it or to protect our rights

We never sell your personal information.

Overseas disclosure

We are based in the United States and our fulfilment partner is located in China, so your personal information is disclosed to recipients in the United States and China. Before we disclose it overseas, we take reasonable steps, including contractual commitments, to make sure those recipients handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Cookies

Essential cookies make sure the cart and checkout work. Analytics and advertising cookies help us understand how the site is used and show you relevant ads; you can accept, refuse or change them through the cookie banner and the cookie settings link on the site. Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep order and payment records for as long as tax and accounting rules require (generally up to 7 years), customer service records for up to 3 years after a matter is closed, marketing data until you unsubscribe, and account data until you delete your account. After that, we delete or de-identify it.

Access and correction

You can request access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. You can also ask us to delete it, withdraw your consent and opt out of marketing at any time. Email info@grace-melbourne.com; we respond within 30 days and may first ask you to confirm your identity. Access is free of charge.

Concerned about how we handle your personal information? Please contact us first; we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Children

Our store is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16, and a parent or guardian can contact us to have such information removed.
